Biography:
Dr Morris is a Senior Research Fellow in the Heart, Sepsis and Trauma Research Laboratory (HSTRL) in the College of Medicine and Dentistry at James Cook University (JCU), with over two decades of experience in preclinical and clinical research. Her research efforts are focused on characterizing the complex cellular and molecular mechanisms underlying recovery versus immune-mediated pathologies after surgery, trauma and infection, as well as the effect of sex and co-morbidities on these processes. Over the past two decades, Dr Morris has established a range of clinically-relevant models of bacterial infection, and orthopaedic trauma and surgery to facilitate the evaluation of novel therapies to bolster the healing responses of both males and females, with improved outcomes.
