Title : Complex Regional Pain Syndrome of the Ankle early diagnosed
Abstract:
Introduction: Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS) is a painful complication in traumatology. Its etiology; complex and multi-causal is still poorly understood. Its diagnosis is relatively easy and straightforward (with clinical and imaging tools), but its progression remains unpredictable and lengthy. Fortunately, it is rare, easily preventable and the treatment is more effective when it is diagnosed earlier.
Materials and Methods: We report the cases of three patients, one woman and two men aged 52, 35, and 42, all of them suffered from ankle trauma of varying severity, from a simple sprain to a complex fracture, and who presented with clinical and scintigraphic CRPS within the first month of their follow-up. Hospitalized and treated in our Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation department.
Results and Discussion: An analysis of data based on clinical presentation, pain (VAS), contributing factors, functional status, socio-professional impact, treatment, and outcome was collected. Our results were after that analyzed and compared with recent literature on the subject.
