Title : Advanced management of vasclar malformations of intramuscular, joints, bones of an extremity: A multidisciplinary approach
Abstract:
The problem of treating patients with congenital vascular malformations (angiodysplasias) is one of the most difficult in clinical angiology, and when this pathological process affects the knee joint, muscular or bones of the extremities, the situation becomes much more severe. The main advantages of surgical treatment of intermuscular vascular malformation from an orthopedic point of view are minimally invasive access, coagulation through punctures 0.5 cm in diameter, and rapid recovery after surgery. Treatment of patients with vascular malformations of the knee joint should be based on the principles of a multidisciplinary approach, which provides for thorough diagnostics based primarily on non-invasive methods and integration of surgical treatment methods. In case of arteriovenous forms, it should be done together with vascular interventional radiologists, and in case of venous forms with vascular surgeons. Only in this way can the best functional and aesthetic results be achieved. Eighteen patients were treated, with positive functional outcomes.
