Title : Management of sport related injuries to the hand in children
Abstract:
The peak incidence of hand injuries in children due to sports is between the ages of 10-14 with a rate of 9 per 1000. The little finger and the proximal phalanx were the most frequently involved. Direct impacts are the frequent mechanism of injury and depend on the type of ball, energy, velocity, and position of the finger at the moment of impact. Discussed some cases of management and complications. Review of typical injuries in cricket, football, rugby, basketball, and skiing. Also, trauma for a fall involving fracture of the wrist and ligament injuries, as well as the overused gymnast’s wrist or the twisted injuries presented in tennis, golf, and weightlifting.
