Title : Review of hand related complications in patients with End Stage Renal Disease (ESRD): Management and recommendations
Abstract:
In patients receiving dialysis for end stage renal disease (ESRD), hand related complications are observed in response to arterial injury from hemodialysis access. In this review, we assess the signs and symptoms associated with the following complications: carpal tunnel, trigger finger, Dupuytren’s contracture, and steal syndrome. We will discuss how these syndromes can be recognized in clinic, what we can recommend for treatment, remedies for each, and when further referral to a hand surgeon is necessary.
