Biography:

Dr. Eltoukhy received his bachelor’s degree in manufacturing engineering from the College of Engineering, Alexandria University, Egypt. He then received his master’s degree from the same university in the field of mechatronics. In 2011, he received his Ph.D. degree in Industrial Engineering, in the field of biomechanics, Department of Industrial & Systems Engineering, College of Engineering, University of Miami (UM).

After receiving his Ph.D. degree, Dr. Eltoukhy served as a Post-Doctoral Associate at the College of Engineering, University of Miami. During his appointment, Dr. Eltoukhy served as the Assistant Director of the University of Miami’s Industrial Assessment Center (MIIAC) which received the 2013 “Center of Excellence Award” from the U.S. Department of Energy. Dr. Eltoukhy is currently an Associate Professor of Biomechanics at the departments of Kinesiology and Sport Sciences, Physical Therapy, and Industrial & Systems Engineering at UM.

Dr. Eltoukhy areas of expertise include motion capture, gait analysis, musculoskeletal modeling, artificial intelligence, and computer vision. Dr. Eltoukhy’s work is focused on the development and validation of AI-based movement assessment tools for clinical- and home-based settings. Dr. Eltoukhy published more than 120 journal articles, conference papers, abstracts, and presentations. He’s a former Section Editor of the Measurement in Physical Education and Exercise Science journal, and he’s currently the Guest Editor of the Sensor’s journal special issue: Sensors and Artificial Intelligence in Gait and Posture Analysis and he’s also a Guest Editor of the special issue: Computational Modelling and Precision Psychiatry for Diagnosis and Treatment Planning of the Frontiers in Psychiatry journal.

As part of his service duties, Dr. Eltoukhy serves on several committees at UM including: The UM Academic Computing Advisory Committee (ACAC), UM Graduate Council, the Educational Innovation Committee, UM Magic Leap Leadership Council, and the Interdisciplinary Inquiry Task Force.
