Title : Volar subluxation of the thumb metacarpo-phalangeal joint: Lessons from rare case studies
Abstract:
We report a young man who suffered a rare volar subluxation of the thumb MCP joint (type C) after being exposed to a fall from a height of about one meter. Who was treated surgically in the third week following the initial trauma, after two conservative treatment attempts failed to resolve his crisis? The patient demonstrated good functional results after six months of follow-up. To emphasize the significance of early diagnosis, effective treatment, and the importance of case evaluation following closed reduction to prevent recurrence and chronic instability and complications like arthritis, stiffness, premature closure of the epiphysis, and deformities.
