The ankle is a joint in the lower limb that connects the distal end of the leg to the proximal end of the foot. The ankle joint, which connects the tibia and fibula of the leg to the talus of the foot, is known as the ankle.
The foot is the lower limb portion of the body that is distal to the ankle joint. It has loosely adhered skin on the dorsal surface and thick hairless skin on the plantar/inferior surface that is tough and strongly adhered to the underlying plantar aponeurosis. The foot is made up of 26 tiny bones that are intended to support weight and distribute force. The bone alignment provides three arches that distribute weight well while preventing compression of plantar neuro-vascular systems. The three arches, the medial and lateral longitudinal arches, and the transverse arch, when combined, form an architectural vault that is one of the world's strongest load-bearing structures.
