Supraspinous Ligament

Supraspinous Ligament

"Supraspinous Ligament" in human anatomy, is a ligamentous structure known as the supraspinous ligament that forms part of the interspinous ligament complex in the spine.

The supraspinous ligament runs along the tips of the spinous processes of the vertebrae, extending from the seventh cervical vertebra to the sacrum. In orthopaedics, this ligament is crucial for providing stability to the spine, particularly in the thoracic and lumbar regions.
Orthopedic assessments often involve evaluating the integrity of ligaments like the supraspinous ligament in cases of back pain, spinal instability, or trauma. Understanding the anatomy of spinal ligaments is essential for diagnosing and managing conditions related to the spine, contributing to comprehensive musculoskeletal care and effective rehabilitation.
